New Customs Rules from July 1 – More Duty-Free Imports from the USA
As of July 1, many products originating in the United States can be imported into the EU free of customs duty. This includes a wide range of industrial goods, machinery, spare parts, chemicals, plastic products, metals and tools. In addition, certain agricultural and food products will benefit from improved tariff conditions through tariff quotas or reduced duty rates.

What does this mean?
For many businesses, the new rules mean lower import costs and new opportunities to source products from American suppliers.

It is important to note that duty-free treatment only applies to goods that meet the rules of U.S. origin. VAT and any other applicable taxes or charges continue to apply under the normal regulations.

The new rules also cover vehicles of U.S. origin. If you import vehicles from the United States, this may result in significantly lower customs duties.

Due to the deteriorating security situation in the Middle East, both air and ocean transport services are being affected. Several operators have already cancelled departures, introduced reroutings, or implemented temporary booking suspensions.

At present, this includes among other things:

Cancelled and reduced air connections to and from the region, resulting in a high risk of delays.
Rerouting of ocean shipments, leading to extended transit times. The few services that previously continued to transit the Suez Canal have now suspended these sailings and are once again routing vessels around the Cape of Good Hope.
Some operators have introduced temporary suspensions on new bookings to the Middle East.
We are closely monitoring the situation and will provide updated information as further details become available.

Should you have any questions regarding ongoing or planned shipments, or require alternative transport solutions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

We would like to take this opportunity to remind you of the upcoming Chinese New Year. In 2026, the main holiday period will take place between 17 February and 3 March, which means that China, as usual, will shut down almost all business activities during most of weeks 8 and 9.

The New Year is also celebrated in other parts of Asia, such as Hong Kong and Taiwan, although on slightly different dates. Many companies remain closed for more than one week, and as is customary, Chinese production is slow to restart after the holidays.

We continuously work to find the best solutions for you as a customer when it is time to book your transport. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

This year, we celebrate the Year of the Horse!
