Gothenburg port has advised a new strike, this time concerning a strike in sympathy for Spanish dockworkers' conflict. The strike comes into force March 10 2017 from 12.00 - 15.00. This means all work will be stopped during this period.
Rates during the month of February have shown a downward trend, but the month of March starts with rather moderate increases anyway, approx. USD 100 / TEU.

The problems in the port of Gothenburg is not solved. The strike announced for this week was called off at the last moment. The export containers are still affected as the port tries to restrict the admission of export goods to apply only to goods that have an imminent closing-time. The situation in the port also creates turbulence for the import containers, which in turn generates additional costs as waiting hours and demurrage. We have received indications that the shipping lines will introduce a congestion fee, valid from teh first of March. We hope for your understanding as these costs are directly related to the prevailing conflict situation in Gothenburg port, and nothing we can influence.
Scanlink wish you a nice working & winter holiday week!
The problems in the port of Gothenburg continue. We don't receive much information about the progress of the negotiations but especially export containers suffer sever problems as the port only opens up during short intervals for export goods that have an imminent closing-time. The situation in the harbor also creates turbulence regarding import containers. This generates additional costs as waiting hours and container demurrage. We have received indications that additional costs which incurre the LCL traffic will be charged ahead. We hope for your understanding as these costs are directly related to the prevailing conflict situation in the Gothenburg port, and nothing we can influence.
The rates during the past month have been quite stable and we have already received rates valid in February without any significant increases. The space is however very tight as we approach the Chinese New Year between 27/1 - 2/2.
The problems in the Gothenburg port continues. A strike is scheduled for tomorrow 24 January from 12.00 to 20.00, which means that the port more or less will be closed all day.
We also like to inform you regarding the new customs rules for GSP certificates. GSP will be phased out and replaced by an authorization which the exporter must apply for, called REX. Please read more in the attachement.
